Meeting The people in HD-29

The past week has been a rough one for walking precincts. We had five days of rain. That put a damper on things to say the least. We were however able to knock on just over 800 homes in this past week. That consisted of four nights walking for two hours a night. I am very excited about both the response and the activism by the volunteers. We have officially knocked on 7200 doors, and we keep moving. We spoke to several business owners last week and were able to put window signs up in several businesses.
The greatest part is the reaction of the people. I walked up to a home yesterday, and the owner of the home was sitting on her front porch. She was very pleasant, and listened to what I had to say. When I told her I was the Republican candidate, she quickly told me she was a registered Democrat. Before I could say anything else, she said, "but with the state of things now, you could very likely have my vote". We ran into every type of political view yesterday, and the only one that still bothers me is the one who is apathetic. This is because they take no part in their government. We had people that said Republicans need to look out for the working man not just the corporations. I agree that is true, however, without the corporations and businesses, there is nowhere for that man to work. We had a good conversation. He will not be voting for me, but, I hope that he will feel comfortable calling or emailing me if I am elected to be his representative. No matter what we saw, we had a good dialogue with everyone we could. It is exciting. We are in exciting times, and we can bring our government back to the people.
Thanks once again to all of the volunteers who have given of their time and money to help the campaign. Your efforts are what make us successful.
