Bills Sponsored During Session

Proposals Sponsored by Rep. Ramirez, House District 29

2011 Legislative Session, Jan. 12—May 11, 2011
¨ HB 1054 – Would have increased efficiency by requiring RTD to contract at least 50% of its vehicular service with the private sector.  Lost in the House. This bill would have allowed RTD to create more private jobs and keep the State jobs they have.

Jog in the Bog

Each year on Labor Day, Standley Lake High School boosters put on the Jog in the Bog. I is the largest fund raiser for the athletic groups. This is a tradition in Westminster, that my family and I have had the great pleasure to be a part of. We volunteer to help with registration and help pass out snacks and water after the race. It is awesome to see how many students and family members come out in support of the event. It helps keep costs down for athletic fees and gear.

Time with the Boy Scouts of troop 212

Over a year ago I was attending the Westminster fair. It was during the campaign so I was talking with everyone I could. I met a Scoutmaster at their booth. I gave him a card. About a month ago that scoutmaster called and asked if I would come and speak with his troop. Being an eagle scout myself, I thought it a privilege and an honor. I went last night and listened to their anouncements. That troop is very active. They have come up with some very innovative ways of fundraising in these tough times.

Supplemental bills today February 16 2011

Today we worked the supplemental bills from the JBC. Now, if you are confused about my first sentence, I understand, I was as well. There are two parts of that sentence I wouldn't understand if I was not at the Capitol every day. So to address this backwards, I will start with JBC. This stands for the Joint Budget Committee. They are charged with making sure that we have a budget to vote on and they have to make sure that budget is balanced. That is the easy part. The hard part is what they have to do first. This is where the supplemental bills come into play.

The First Three Weeks 2/6/11

I quit my job on January 7th in order to fulfill my commitment to become a State Representative for House District 29. This was a little frightening. I had campaigned for well over a year and knew it would come to that. I was about to embark on a new life one which did not compare to any position I had ever held before. I have done everything from dig ditches to owning a company and everything in between. This is nothing like any of those positions. I is a whole different world, one with which I am both cautious and excited.

Robert on the Taxes

Washington doesn’t have a revenue problem – it has a spending problem. Unfortunately, many in Congress don’t share this viewpoint, and have recently passed legislation that calls for the largest tax increase in American history. There is no reason to punish hard work and success! There is no reason to raise taxes. Furthermore, success should not be punished. As long as weighty regulations, an onerous government and outrageous taxes don’t stand in the way, the great people of America can make this country and economy work.

Robert on the Second Amendment

In the aftermath of so many horrible attacks on schools, the question of gun control keeps coming up. We as Americans have many rights and one of them is the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States has often been misunderstood. Over the years I have asked many people what this Amendment meant to them, and many felt it was to protect themselves from thieves, or animals. In truth they are not far off. The problem is those thieves are the ones who wish to take our guns away, and our rights. The animals are those that would attack innocence.

Robert on the Economy

I know what it's like for families struggling to make ends meet during this tough economy. With sharp price increases for nearly everything – from groceries to gas – Coloradans have seen their paychecks being stretched to the limit. The stretched paychecks from higher prices and the elimination of paychecks from mass layoffs are the top concerns of those I wish to serve. My family has been hit hard too, but I also know that difficult economic challenges also present enormous opportunities.

The Win has Been Announced. WE DID IT!!!!!!!

As of yesterday at 4:00 PM., our race was official. We have taken the Win in House District 29. I would like to thank all the volunteers who gave their year to help us win this seat. My Wife and Family were wonderful in their support and understanding throughout the process. I could not have done it without them. The vital guidance and support from the House leadership and the party were unbelievable during this election cycle. While it was a close win, I consider it almost a 17 point win as we had to make up for a 16 point deficit against a candidate who had shown momentum in every race.
